Two Days Of Rain

It's not nice here today and Ruth just called to say that after 36 hours of travel she is finally in Victoria. Luckily our boat is nice and dry . I've got the furnace cranked up and the temp is holding at 73 degrees .

It's raining so hard I can hardly see the bridge in front of me.

Daisy is reading a friends blog on my computer and I'm watching a movie.

I learnt how to microwave rice today for my dinner. It turned out better than the rice I make in our rice maker back home. I'll do this again.

So there is a diver cleaning the bottom of my neighbours boat at the end of that yellow tube. I had to laugh when I was talking to him. I asked him if he didn't mind if working in the rain . He looked at me like I was from outer space . He says "Like Man, I work in water". He must have thought I was serious. I think he needs to crank up the oxygen in that line.

Ruth's Off To Canada

This was an early morning

Palm  Beach was busy even at this early hour.I liked this sign.

So Ruth is off the give the kids some help for the next 3 weeks.

It's going to be strange living on the boat without her. She lost a bet and was supposed to be making the bed for another 2 weeks. She goes to great lengths to get out of her loss.

Gorgeous sunrise this morning.

Turned ugly on my morning walk. Daisy and I got soaked from the rain as we walked along the ocean.

Tuesday's Dinner Out

So right around dinner time Ruth suggested we go out  to a Pizza joint we heard about
that is just down the road  from our marina. There was a beautiful sunset as we were leaving.

The pizza joint was full so we headed to Jensen Beach to try and find this little bar we had driven past about one month ago. The Happy Snapper is a terrific little joint. Kind of a biker bar without the bikers.

The front opens up onto the ocean and becomes a stand up bar.

Happy hour goes from 7 to 7 daily. That is a $4.00 glass of wine.

We sat on these chairs with our wine while waiting for our dinners. I had a steak and Ruth had fish. Both meals were excellent .
Neither of us could finish our plates so I went and got Daisy from the truck .
She joined us at our outdoor table for leftovers.
This is Ruth's birthday dinner. Twelve day's early because she is leaving at 5:00 A.M. for Victoria to log some time with the kids. Our grandson Isaac has had some health issues and our kids have been on for 24 hours a day these last 6 weeks. They are exhausted.
Fortunately we all think we are on the home stretch and he will be fine.

Heading Back To Stuart

8:00 Monday morning we said our goodbye's to Wayne and Sue at their dock before heading out into the Atlantic. It was a nice ride with the waves between 1-2 feet. Nothing for our boat. Our friend Les and his son Jason came along for the ride. Jason use to play with our daughters at the Manitoba Yacht Club in the early 80's.

Daisy kept an eye on the gauges for me while I aimed the boat.

The ocean was almost perfectly flat once we got far enough from shore to enter into the gulf stream. Our speed picked up by about 3 knots. The stream runs from the south at about 3-4 knots plus we had a south west wind pushing us along.

Daisy got tired of me and moved over to Les where she got lots of scratches.

Back at the Marriott we went for our usual walk Tuesday morning. The ocean looks like glass today. This is the 3rd day in a row that there are no big waves. This is the time to head to the Bahamas if so inclined. Out friends Doug and Leslie headed over yesterday.

Ruth found us a couple of lounges to lay about on for a while.

This could be a commercial for a tropical resort.

Another Great Sunday In Florida

Wayne and Sue took us down to the Beaches in Pompano for breakfast. We sat outside at this cool little restaraunt that has a $2.95 breakfast. Good food and a good deal. I love that.

We're all smiles this morning. It's sunny and warm out.

These benches along the beach are shaped like little boats.

Notice how calm the ocean is behind us. That's what a west wind will do.
It would be a good day to cross to the Bahamas.

4:30 and we are off to Mark and Julie's campground for dinner. Larry and Maggie are also coming.
The route to the camp ground was something out of a jungle ride.

Mark and Julie were all set up and waiting for us around 5:00.

It didn't take long to get into the camping mode. They have a beautiful 5th wheel R/V.

Julie and her husband #1 started cooking up a special meal he brought just for himself. That was over 42 years ago.We were all having  lasagne as a group but he brought himself a tenderloin steak. Hmmm.

These are all old friends . So comfortable to be around.

Larry was trying to hide behind Julie's hair.

Wayne and Sue just relaxing after their big party.

Mark giving his pup Maggie a big hug.

He finally let her finish his bowl of ice-cream. One spoiled dog.

Saturday at the Fair

We drove up to West Palm Beach with Mark and Julie for the fair on Saturday. The truck was a little quiet at first . Results of Wayne and Sue's Anniversary party the night before. Everything came back to normal after some Dunkin Donuts Coffee.

I don't know whether to be sad at getting into everything here as a senior or happy that I get to go everywhere for less $

The theme of the Fair was New York. Mark snapped this with his iPhone.

This display is actually a giant sand castle. Very cool.

I liked the cars. I've always wanter a Ford GT.

Mark was telling me how how would be in the middle of some forest/swamp miles from anything hunting when he hears a racket and one of these machines comes flying out of the bushes . Not really a good thing if you are out deer hunting. Scares away everything for miles but must be fun to drive.

I liked the animals.

These geese reminded me of the geese on Babe.

Now this made me squirm. My brother Ron will remember this as well. Dr Beldon in Winnipeg was our dentist back in the 50's and 60's. He had this exact same contraption to drill teeth.

You could see the bands spinning around to turn the drill bit and he often would forget to turn the water on to keep your teeth cool while he was drilling. I remember seeing smoke coming out of my mouth as he drilled. He also didn't believe in Novocain.

This was a painful memory. Still squirming while I think about it.

We stopped for the high diving act.It was exciting. There was a show that lasted about 20 minutes where a team of 2 young men and 2 young women showed off their diving skills.

The Grande Finale was where one of the young men dove of off of a 1sq foot platform 85 feet in the air into 9 feet of water.

And we're off. It was a successful landing.

We're all such party animals.

I'd like this sign in my pig roasting area back home.

We finished up the day by having a nice relaxing evening in the boat with Wayne , Sue and their two pups Shorty and Julius.
