It's Been A Busy Few Days With Fixing Pianos As Well As Demolishing Pianos

Friday morning I headed down to Oliver to tune a piano for one of my favourite customers.
Not a nice day for travel.

This rock is a landmark just outside Oliver.
It's called Indian Rock.  I always wondered why.

I had fun at my customers.
She made a wonderful vegetable soup while I tuned her piano
I had brought a chicken stew with me that I had made the night before.
We had a delightful lunch together sharing our food after the piano was tuned.
I asked her what we should eat next year for lunch.

After I got home Ruth and I took Ellie for a nice walk.

She is such a colourful dresser. I have always wondered where she gets that from.

Saturday morning we headed over to Josie and Andrews new house to give them a hand.
Ruth worked in the garden and I dismantled  an old junk piano that came with the house.

It took almost 4 hours to take it apart.

Once the harp was out we could get it out of the house.
It weighed a ton before we did this.

I'm mostly retired but will do piano work on the side. Hahaha

We piled the yard work Ruth had done on the piano and headed to the dump.
They couldn't see the piano under the yard waste and so we saved $10.00 in dump fees.
Yippee. It's not what you make but what you save.

Andrew wanted to go and do the second yard waste dump on his own.
He actually wanted to smoke in the truck but no one is supposed to know he smokes.
Smokers are so delusional.
Anyways , I was happy to stay back.
I pulled up a chair and had an afternoon snooze looking at the lake. Nice.

the next morning  Ruth and Josie put together a great breakfast.

Ruth found a recipe she liked in Josie's Mom's cook book and copied it out for us to enjoy in the future.

It was a nice weekend.
We headed back to Carrie and Brad's for Sunday evening with the kids.

What A Wasted 5 Days

It wasn't a waste spending times with the kids.
Ellie loves her butterfly wings.

She also thinks I'm an easy chair.

Daisy spotted a mouse running across the room and behind the foot stool.

This kept her busy for about an hour.

Better than giving her a chewie.

We got a few stilt walks in this week.

The waste of time was watching the pilot show on Netflix for the show
"Hell on Wheels"
I've spent 5 days watching the four years of episodes.
I love watching TV and never thought I would ever say this.
"I'm sick of watching TV"
Glad its over.

Now I did go outside every so often to check on Ruth as she worked in the garden.

And managed to recrute Ellie for dinner prep as I watched the show in the kitchen.

She proved herself to be a good worker.

I Hate This

I'm sick. First time in years. First Ruth got some type of bug. Then the kids brought something home from school.  The kids are almost better. Now I have it. I'm stuffed up and woke up in the middle of the night with a pounding head. Thank goodness Ruth is such a good nurse.
I sure don't feel like I am living up to my mug.

I also learned something this week.
Don't leave your iPhone unattended overnight on son in law's desk
or you'll end up with a new screensaver like this .

Also don't leave your iPad where grandson can reach it.
He's like his dad. Here is the new iPad screen saver.

We Went To The Border Today

I had a piano to tune today on the Canadian side and Ruth crossed the border to pick up
some vitamins she had ordered from Florida at our American Post Box .
We were both done within two hours.
About 5 miles from the border we saw this little roadside stop that reminded us of a place we had eaten at in Mexico
 while driving down to Cabos.
 It was worth the stop.

I couldn't finish my burrito so I brought half back for Brad.
He liked it as much as I did.

Ruth had the Fish Taco.
Said it was great.

We finished the day off with a walk with the grandkids.
Why do I always look mad. I'm not.

We Had A Great Long Weekend

It started out with me playing the Imperial Grand Master Queen Can't Be Beat Crib Expert Carrie Sunday morning.
She is the one behind the SKUNK , Yes , SKUNK line. Hahaha.

After the big win we all settled in to a relaxing sit looking out the window at the lake.
 I think I fell asleep.

In the afternoon Ruth and I took Jack and Ellie for a walk. Ellie was getting cranky so we took her old stroller.
Half way thru the walk Jack wanted in.

He found his energy fairly quickly.
Pretending to charge everything on his trusty steed.

Sunday night we went over to Brad and Colleens place for a great dinner and conversations.
Such great friends. They were our first friends we met when we moved here from Manitoba 21 years ago.
They live at this beautiful ranch on many acres complete with gorgeous white horses in the barn and stable.
It looks like a storybook home.

Monday evening we headed over to Dana and Anita's for another wonderful dinner.
It was our weekend to be spoiled.I love their outdoor sitting area.

The sunset up here is beautiful.

Here Anita is doing her magic in the kitchen.

She's a bit of a hand talker.

This made me laugh.
She's cutting up a chicken and Dana wants her to switch knives.

She's not sure what he wants .

She got a little nervous around that pointy part.
He's a bit of a hand talker as well.

It was a great meal.
Dana was doing his Elvis impersonation.

We ended the evening around the fire with the dogs.
Ruth and I hated to leave but we had about an hour drive home and it was late.
Another great night.

Back To Kelowna Sept 1st.

We were a little nervous about sleeping in the coach in Sharon's front yard because of all the wind still happening.
There were huge cottonwoods all around us that were bending quite a bit with the wind.
One of them uprooted itself the night before while we were gone.
They didn't get away scott free with this one.
It demolished their sail boat.

Lots of cleanup happened Sunday afternoon while we were making dinner.
I love these guys who just show up with machines doing what I thought we would be doing by hand.

Ruth made jam for the kids in the afternoon.

She also did up some of the salmon carrie caught last time she was at sea.

I did up chicken fingers with home made sauce . This fish allergy I have sucks.

I also made another pie for desert. Yumm.

Sharon trying to decide on a big slice or a small slice.
BIG!!!!!!

After dinner we decided to move the coach to the other side of the house where there were no trees.
The advantage of being there was that Sharon could serve us coffee in the morning
without us having to come inside and disturb them.

Our ride home was non eventful. Just the way we like it.
I made dinner and after we all sat around the fire outside
watching Jack almost beat Carrie in a game of crib.

After the game we had Jack drive his bike to the store to buy a chocolate bar we all shared.
He loves dressing up in his safety gear and heading out.

I tuned Jack's piano this afternoon.
It's been a busy week so far.
