We both hate the traffic while trying to leave Portland.
We missed the morning rush and headed out around 10:00 A.M.
Perfect timing.
This was the best part of the day.
Lining up to come back into Canada.
The land where we can leave our doors unlocked , Talk to strangers and no one is carrying a gun.
Nice to be home.
Finally a TV station I understand.
Don't get me wrong , We both love the States.
It's just different here . We're use to this.
So we found a nice camp ground right in Vancouver about 20 minutes away from the Ferry we need to take to get onto Vancouver Island .
Brad has the grand kids on the island this week to visit with Carrie on the Coast Guard ship while she works this month and they all got to celebrate her birthday.
They caught the 9:00 ferry back to the mainland and made it here for breakfast around 11:30.
Ruth is busy making raspberry crapes for them as a surprise.
After brunch we all went for a walk. Ellie tripped and wanted to be carried.
Ruth is so giving.
She's getting to be a big kid. I wouldn't carry her.
I would have just cuddled her until she felt better.
I guess that's why she loves her Nona so much.
We told them that we had bought them a present.
Jack loves gifts. He actually guessed what it was.
I think his mom had told him.
No time wasted tearing the bags apart that held their NASA Astronaut suits.
They play astronaut for hours every day.
Such great imaginations. This was the perfect gift.
I was really happy to see them. It's been about 6 months since I spent any time with them.
Ruth got to see them for a few weeks in January.
So we got a premo spot on the ferry going to the island .
We were in the lower level but still had a window two rows over for light. We both fell asleep in the coach once we got on and we slept until it docked on the island. Sweet.
The kids has our spot all set up outside their house with power.
Thats all we need.
I took Daisy down to the lake for a walk once we were settled in.
They live in such a great spot.
This is their backyard. Still a little cold but beautiful.
Sharon and I have a project.
Isaac came with us to the shop to supervise.
We're sanding , staining and refinishing her kitchen table.
I took my vest off and laid it over a bench about 20 feet away from out staining because I wanted to keep it nice. Suddenly I heard Sharon say "OOPS".
I don't know how in the world she could have spilt stain on my vest but she did.
At least it was on the inside. Now I have a story to tease her with.YEAH.
Anyways , it turned out beautiful.
Back home Isaac plays the piano for us and did a wonderful job. He's becoming very good.
Elliot read a story for about 20 minutes to her parents after dinner.
Such a sweet boy.
So Saturday morning we headed out about 9:00 A.M. to go on a hike about one hour from their home.
We stopped at what they called the big tree. It certainly was. You couldn't see the top.
Our family is big on bunny ears. Every picture has at least one person doing this.
Sharon took this thru the sun roof using her selfie stick.
They took us to this beautiful park on the pacific ocean.
We love bunny ears.
I can see why we love being near water so much.
The waves were huge. Nothing I would want to be caught in.
We have a wonderful family.
Ruth and I feel so blessed to have such great daughters
who have given us such great son in laws and grand children.
My first baby. Where has the time gone.
These kids are a hoot. They love having their pictures taken.
We loved the walk in this forest.
B.C. is a beautiful province.
There were lots of smiles this morning.
I love the way these trees grow. No one knew what they were called.
I called them snake trees.
So elliot was whipping a long Kelp root against a big bolder when it came back and hit him on the forehead. He was laughing but when we asked him how he really felt he had other thoughts.
It actually made him a little mad.
Even though these signs are everywhere we still watched a couple foolishly get trapped on the rocks when a rogue wave came in and covered them up to their waist while they stood on a huge rock outcrop with no where to escape to.
This could have ended quite badly.
Fortunately they kept their balance and didn't get washed out into the ocean with the outgoing wave.
People just don't think.
Anyways , we had a wonderful morning.
I rode in the back seat coming home and put my iPhone onto Sharon's Selfie Stick
to get this picture of her sleeping in the front seat coming home.
This is payback for the picture she took of me sleeping the other day and put it on her blog.
I didn't use the one of her sleeping with her mouth open.
I'm saving it for whenever she posts one of me that isn't very flattering. Haha
