Saturday Was A Full Day

We had fun this morning.
Peter and Sandy rented a couple of bikes so we took them for a tour around Woods lake.
We were off by 8:00 AM. Trying to beat the heat.

So we never checked Ruth's tires before leaving and after about 30 minutes
we noticed they were a little flat.
Luckily one of the rental bikes had pump.

We went to the regional park that is in Oyama between
Woods Lake and Kalamalaka lake.
It's a beautiful park.

Beautiful.

Such a nice place for a kayak.

Snack stop.
The bike ride was about 3 hours.
We got back just as it was getting hot out.

Saturday evening was fun.
Sandy's cousin Michael owns an acreage up the mountain towards the trestles.
He invited us over for dinner.
I really enjoyed walking around his property seeing how he's developed it over the years.

We got to meet Sandy's young cousin before dinner.
Michaels son. Nice guy.

So after dinner he took Sandy , Ruth and myself up the hill to his back 40.
Peter stayed back and had a nap.

The views up here were breathtaking.

It's a typical B.C. forest up here.
Very rugged with only a goat path for a road.

The sun was setting before we headed back.

The happy crew.

So these two have been friends for over 45 years.

Michael is a terrific tour guide.

The Majeskie Cousins.

Here Michael was explaining how they got water into the valley in early 1900's.

They ran the water down to Kelowna thru this Aqua duct from a mountain lake miles away.

it continued down into the valley.

At the edge of this cliff they reverted it into a wooden Aqua duct from the concrete one.
The wooden one has rotted away with the years.

You could make out the path it use to follow by following the old boards.

It is amazing to think about how they constructed it in this terrain.

This was an over flow diversion farther up the mountain.

The views here were beautiful.

I love being in the woods.

I told them to step back a couple of feet but they declined .
There was quite a drop off behind them.

My Ride Back To Kelowna

I'm ready to leave Winnipeg.
Peter is coming for the ride back to Kelowna with me .
Sandy flew to Kelowna Kelowna this morning to spend a few days with Ruth before we get there.
Peter and Sandy will be flying back to Winnipeg on Sunday.

We drove past our old building on Portage Avenue on the way out of town.
We sold the building in 2000 and they still haven't taken my sign off the roof.

So we stopped in Elfenstone MB. to visit Pat and Robert overnight.
They had some friends visiting from Beausejour for the afternoon.
They all ran farms in their youth so I had to endure a lively conversation
on whats the best tractor around. Actually , it was interesting.

Their front yard was all rock and scrub 4 years ago when they moved to their farm.
Now it's like a beautiful park.

Daisy and Dory got reacquainted .
The two little buddies had a great time playing and exploring together.

Pat and Robert are wonderful host's.
I need to leave this place and get onto a diet.
She has always loved feeding people.

Peter had a good sleep waiting for dinner.

He also had a good sleep after diner.
Pat covered him with the blanket thinking he would be more comfortable.
She is so thoughtful.

We're back on the road.
She loves her Dory dog.

Getting from Elfenstone to #1 highway is always a challenge.
It's beautiful countryside but the highways aren't great.

Especially when it starts to rain.
This was the Assiniboin River.
Two hundred out of Winnipeg I can almost jump across it.

So Peter found us a short cut on the map and I agreed to take it.
Big mistake.
We ended up on a gravel detour that cost us about 2.5 hours.

It was beautiful but I didn't care by now.
I'd seen enough of Manitoba.

Finally. Mountains.
I love the Rockies.

So 2200 Kilometers later I can see Lake Okanagan.
Home at last.
We left Tuesday morning and got into Kelowna Thursday evening.

I'm In Winnipeg

I'm back in town for just a couple of days and I'm staying with Peter and Sandy.
This morning I got to meet their new grand daughter.
Elizabeth is such a sweetheart.

Next we went to visit their son and his wife in their new home.
Kevin has bought himself a virtual reality game.
It's so cool.

Peter got into it.

Then I went over to visit our nephew and his wife.
They just bought this house and have gutted the inside. Big job.

Ruth and I changed our hall light and thought they may like it for their renovation.
I think we'll see in in their new renovation next visit.

Sunday morning Pete and I decided to replace their microwave.

Pete should have been wearing a white hard hat .
He thinks he's a boss.

Anyways , We had the new on in and working before lunch.

Ruth and I first started dating when I had my first boat at this marina.

I haven't been past here for over 40 years.
The marina is gone and they've turned it into a beautiful park.

I went for lunch with Ivan .
We're at a red light when the ugliest car I've ever seen stopped across from us.
It looked like real gold.

Ivan did this golf cart up in his body shop.
He's pretty proud of this toy.

So he has around 30 restored Mustangs in his collection.
We went for lunch in this beauty.
It's like it just came out of the factory.
His shop is one of the finest body shops I've ever seen.
