I'M BACK AT THE MILL

It's not like I have nothing to do at home but
I'm back at the mill putting up a log house to use as a sample to sell off of.
I had hese logs ready to assemble last fall before Ruth and I headed to Mexico
for the winter. I'm happy to see that we have started to put this together.

We were 3 logs short so John cut them on Wednesday for me.
Now all I need to do is groove and bevel them.

I have enjoyed watching the cowboy's move cattle around on the ranch across the road from the mill.

They make it look easy but I'm sure it is hard work.

I am so excited.
I got a new truck yesterday.
I hated that Ford that I've been driving for the last 2 years.

MY BIRTHDAY AND OUR 45th ANNIVERSARY WEEK

This has been a busy week.
Ruth and I have been married 45 years this week. Wow.
It's been an adventure and a fun ride.

We took a honeymoon to Hawaii a couple of years after we got married.
Another adventure. It was our first time on an airplane.

On the Sunday before May 13 Carrie took Ruth for an outing up to the shushwap
to look for a place to dock her boat for the summer.

She also packed a picnic for the trip.

This is a family favourite.
Egg salad , Coke and Chips , followed by a nap.

The washroom signs at this marina made me laugh.

On May 13th we did what seems to becoming a traditional event.
A bike ride around the lake with a halfway stop for lunch.

And our yearly photo in front of the waterfalls.

It's a beautiful thing.

This little burger joint has great food but it's expensive.
We shared a burger and Yam fries with 2 drinks. $25.00.

Waiting patiently for lunch.

Because of Covid 19 there is no eating on the premises.
They had taken all the picnic tables away so we went across the street to the beach
and sat on the sand leaning up agains a big rock.
It was nice.

On the ride home we stopped for a short break at someone's dock.
It started to look like rain so we didn't stay long.
This is a beautiful lake.
It is about 20 kilometres around the lake on the bike trail.
My butt was sore by the time we stopped here.

Ruth bought me a new grill for my birthday.
This is something I would never buy for myself.

The BBQ store gave us a meal as a gift for our purchase.
It's a nice gesture and we enjoyed it very much.

I've never had a grill with a searing burner before but it works great.
There is a bit of a trick to using it but I'm learning.

We love the veggies done this way.
It was a great meal.

And then there is the Anniversary/Birthday dinner.

It looked like a forest fire once they got all 68 candles lit.
Everyone thought it was a fun event.
I'm just happy to be here.

The day after on our walk we noticed that there was a fresh load of chips piled up
at the community garden so Ruth and I took a few minutes to distribute them around her plot.

Between the garden at home and her community garden we'll be eating
like kings in another few months.

I HAD A FREE HOUR SO I DID SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE

I had some time with nothing to do the other day so I dug out my knife
and found a nice place to sit.

This is going to be our new saucepan spoon.
I've wanted one of these for a while.

I love making these spoons.
It's so relaxing and rewarding in the end.

This one turned out nice.

I've started a diet lower my blood pressure.
I did this years ago and it worked.

Beer can chicken on the Q.
One of my favourites.

I have no trouble sticking this diet.
