Pat was the head chef for the week. We had lots of laughs working with him.
Not too many guys out there make me feel tiny.
We thought it was funny that we both wore the same t-shirts on the last day.
It started to rain while we walked down to the lodge for lunch.
Within minutes it turned into an unbelievable rain/wind storm that lasted a bit more than two hours.
Everyone was to stay inside away from the part of the lodge that had trees nearby.
I was laughing to myself watching these 2 girls in their bathing suites
play with the soccer ball in the rain just before the wind storm.
During the storm Chris stood out in the middle of the field watching trees uproot & crack in half.
We hunkered down in Chris's office waiting for it to blow over.
Ruth found a Mennonite cookbook the same as her Grandma's in the kitchen.
She had lot's of laugh's and memories looking at those recipes.
Finally the wind subsided and the sky cleared up slightly.
Luckily no trees landed on their house.
Lots of big arms off the trees were beside and on the deck.
A big cottonwood was uprooted , landed on their boat and broke their trailer in half.
If it had dropped 30 degrees to the south it would have landed on our motorhome.
We were lucky.
Another tree near the motorhome blew over and took out a power pole & line.
I didn't know before that you can't be on the ground within 100 feet of a down power line
or you can get electrocuted if it is still live.
The motorhome was about 25 feet away so once it was confirmed the line was dead
we got permission from Chris to go and move it.
We headed to a campground about 30 minutes away.
That is when I noticed the tree stuck to the top of our coach.
Today's project is to climb up and dig it out from whatever is holding it there.
Chris and Sharon brought the boys over to the campground for some pizza.
Chris was exhausted.
It was supposed to be his day off.
No one expected such a storm.
The camp ground was a dump.
The kids had power back at their place.
We hadn't paid for our site yet So we left and went back to their place.
When we got there a crew was replacing the pole and getting power back to the rest of the lodge.
