Sun Set Marina's Talent Show

Rob and Anne invited us over to their boat for dinner before going to the  talent show. It was a great dinner that went a little late so we had to rush out of the boat to be in time for the show.

Ruth was the first out.

Rob really didn't want to come. He kept saying for us to go and he's catch up. 

Anne kiboshed that idea pretty quick.

Here comes the Dive. She's dancing in the show.

Ruth gave the star special treatment with the umbrella.

It was a full house. Most of them looked like sailor's. Not a lot of power boaters here.

Robert scores 2 pieces of pie. He was happy.

No chairs left so Anne sat on his lap for 2 hours. Right up until her dance number.

This gal's talent was a nice little Chopin piece that she had recorded on her computer. 

I think Jack plays the same piece.

This english man read poetry to us for a couple of days.

Then we got the belly dancer for the rest of the week.

This guy was good. He sang a few old army songs from the 40's. He was also very funny.

Amy organized the show. 

She did a Joan Rivers sort of show on what it's like living on a boat. Funny.

This crowd needed a sign to make them clap at the appropriate times.

Now the dance. This old guy paraded back and forth encouraging the women to dance.

I think Anne was happy when it was finally over. She was the best one up there.

Being with Rob and Anne tonight was a nice way to spend an evening.

Friday , It Is Going To Be A Movie Day

Sunrise was beautiful but we all know what a red sky in the morning means.

By the time we were ready to take Daisy for her morning walk it was pouring out. 

As Ruth and I put on our rain gear I said it was too bad Daisy didn't have any rain gear.

Ruth jumped to the task .

Daisy liked her new garbage bag outfit.

Everyone wanted to talk to us on our walk today. She's a trend setter.

Maybe the kids will get her a proper raincoat for her birthday. 

Or at least a fresh roll of garbage bags. I had to use the scissors to get this one off of her.

Hump Day , Fun Day

Ruth read about this organic farm just south of Stuart that was started by a couple who spent their early life together traveling the Caribbean on their yacht. Every Wednesday and Saturday they open up their farm and sell fresh produce to the public. Sounded like a road trip to me.

They also have a program that lets interested parties work on the farm as much as they want and they will pay for the labour with vegetables. We talked to them about this and are planning on helping here when we come back next fall. It sounds like fun.

The fields are beautiful.

The netted off area is very impressive. I can't wait to help. 

I know Ruth is excited about finding this place.

We got back from the farm around 1:30 and headed out to down town Stuart with our friends Robin and Bill.

Happy hour started early today at the greek restaraunt "Stopo's" on the water front. 

We all had a drink and some appies while waiting for the Budweiser Clydesdales to unload in the parking lot and get prepped for a parade thru town.  

I couldn't believe how crowded the down town area became. 

It was fun to see the horses getting prepped for the parade.

I loved the Dalmatian sitting up front with the coachmen. He kept yawning. Funny.

Just after they turned the corner they were in front of city hall where there was a podium set up and some speeches were given. 

That's when we left.

Our neighbour is a retired sherif who now owns a food truck that serves only Native Food.

Last weekend they did up a batch of Gator Stew .

I mentioned that I would like to come out to where he was set up and buy a bowl.

Much to my surprise he just came over with a container of it for me.

It is delicious. Very spicy with lots of veggies. Tastes a bit like chicken. 

It has a different texture. 

They also did Gator on a stick this last weekend.

I want that next time.

Back To THe 80's

80 degrees that is.

 Yesterday and today were hot. That's the reason we settled on Florida to become our winter home.

 I love this weather. Yesterday morning we started out with our usual morning ocean walk.

Daisy was hot . She kept laying down on the cool sand. She loves doing this.

A rogue wave covered her when she wasn't looking. She doesn't seem to mind it too much.

There was a dog behind this sand dune she wanted to visit. She wishes she was taller.

The only problem with Daisy getting into the ocean is that she needs a good washing after.

That sand gets everywhere. She seems to like these showers after the walk.

The docks were empty at Sunset last night.

I love this time of day on the docks. 

Finally the weather was kind enough to let me sit at the end of the dock to enjoy the sunset.

I had Rick and Harry back today working on the boat. 

Rick had noticed a rusty return line from the turbo when he was here changing the oil and filters.

 I don't know how he fits in here.

I took a few pictures of the space after he left.

This is where his waist bends to get around the corner.

This is the space he has to fit his body into while wokking on this side of the motor. 

It's about 11 inches wide.

Harry hung over the top of the motor handing him tools. Not much space above the motor either.

Here is the pipe he replaced. Because it is in that small space and down low it had gone unnoticed.

I think we have everything in good shape now.

Busy Saturday With Friends

It was just above freezing when we got up Saturday morning. 

Even Daisy was reluctant to be leaving the boat for her walk.

I was so cold I put on a flannel shirt and Jeans as well as my Canadian Dinner Jacket.

Ruth was saying that it wasn't really all that cold but then I looked at what she was wearing. Haha.

I couldn't believe that the Lady Stuart went out fishing in the morning. 

I love how all the pelicans gather as they clean the daily catch.

Saturday evening we had Wayne and Sue as well as Robert and Anne over for dinner.

We all belonged to the Manitoba Yacht Club In the 1980's.

It was like old home week. Naturally I forgot my camera in the motor home tonight.

Living Thru Another Cold Front

We had Bill and Robin over for dinner last night. Lots of laughs. They are a nice couple who just got a new puppy.
I was surprised they left their boat and puppy to come over . 

Sassy must have been lonely. I love the colour of Bill's shoes.

This morning was so cold I cut Daisy's walk short. She hung out with me at the coach while I did a repair on our generator. 

The regulator was faulty and the Winnebago dealer called me yesterday to say the part had arrived. 

It was a gong show to get it up into the frame past all these hoses but I did it.

It now runs like a dream.

It was so cold and windy here today that we just hung out in the boat watching movies.
We watched a show together in the afternoon but tonight Ruth is downstairs on the internet while I am up on the back deck watching Muscle Shoals on Netflix.
She closed the door on me because I like it loud.

This show is worth watching if you are interested in how the 60's and 70's music industry was formed.
