WE DID A SHORT ROAD TRIP INTO ALBERTA

Here I'm holding up my phone trying to take a picture of the road.

I know...I shouldn't be doing this but I did.

Unfortunately I didn't know that the camera was reversed while I did this.

At least I look like I'm concentrating on driving and not taking pictures.

This is the ski mountain in Golden , B.C.

We stopped here for a break from the road.

This is a pedestrian bridge that the city built over the river which connects a beautiful river walk.

There is something wonderful  about big timbers .

We've never stopped in golden before.

It's a beautiful little city.

This was a nice trip.We has lots of laughs.

This is the only way to travel.

We stopped to visit Bob and Brenda at their lettuce farm west of Calgary.

Calgary has quite a few Covac 19 cases happening so we didn't go there.

Bob and Brenda work on the farm and haven't seen anyone since mid February 

which made us feel safe to visit them.

Still no shaking hands or hugging. We all kept our distances.

Their lettuce farm greenhouse is huge.

Each group of 7 rows hold 1100 heads of lettuce.

This is their work station . 

To keep cool in the greenhouse while they process the heads of lettuce 

they have a canopy of grapes growing overhead for shade.

They also produced a wonderful wine from the grapes.

This is the nursery where they start the lettuce.

It's a hands on job.

Here Bob is going to be adding food to the hydroponic grow tubes.

This must have been an expensive fire.

The rocky Mountains are so majestic.

Still winter up there.

Ruth is driving while I took these pictures.

We had a really nice time on this short trip.

We both think we should do this more often.

THE MILL TRUCK GOT A LITTLE HOT

OOPS!!!!!!!

John phoned me yesterday afternoon around 3:00 and asked if I could come and pick him up.

Of coarse I said I would but WHY ???

It's a diesel so we aren't sure why this happened.

Everything melted. Even the steering wheel.

I've never seen anything like this.

He said that he almost got it out but suddenly it just grew.

Not too happy. He called a tow truck to pick it up.

Even the front wheels were melted off.

The tow truck driver was a bit of a comedian.

He asked john if he wanted to sell the flat deck.

I"M KEEPING BUSY

Slowly but Surely. We're getting there.

Carrie and I did a road trip last week.

It was a beautiful evening.

She found a boat motor for a dingy that was affordable but 

it was near Cache Creek , just past kamloops.

We left at 6:30 and didn't get home till after midnight.

Driving along the highway we were commenting on this bridge. 

That water looks cold and dangerous as well as the bridge looking sketchy.

Just our luck. 

The GPS turned us off the highway about one mile later and brought us 

back to the bridge.

It was the entrance to first nations.

Beautiful country but I didn't like the bridge.

The couple selling the motor were lovely people but

the motor wasn't what we needed.

It was a nice ride , good company , but

we could have stayed home.

This is where Carrie use to work.

Terricube shut down about 6 months ago and now they have to vacate 

their designing warehouse.

Carrie was hired to help disassemble everything and get rid of whatever was left.

The last cube they were building was shipped off to the 

mother company on Vancouver Island.

We both helped with the clean up.

We also got some great work benches for our efforts.

I hated these sliding doors that I installed last year.

They were so heavy to open that we never used this entrance.

Ta Da.

We love these new garden doors. 

It has given our place a totally new feeling.

I brought these beams home from the mill on Sunday for my next project.

The garden doors at the east side of the Great Room are so nice we 

decided to put another set at the west end of the room as well.

These windows have all lost their seal so this seems lake an opportune time .

Ruth's garden is starting to produce quite a lot of rhubarb so

I went with her on Saturday and did some harvesting.

I had the urge for rhubarb pie.

It was delicious.

The deer are starting to hang out in the bush behind our house.

They don't seem to be afraid of me.

I can get quite close to them.

Apparently there is a cougar hanging around this area so

 I'm hoping the deer don't attract it onto our property.

This little guy was setting up house in Ruth's garden.

I relocated him to a nice bushland area near a lake a few miles from here.

I hope he survived the move.

This bothered me.

Someone has set up a shelter in the bush right behind our property.

Last year there was a homeless camp being started not far from here.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
