My friend John gave me a chunk of black walnut last week.
It's such a beautiful wood . I just had to make something out of it.
Ruth always likes the spatulas I make so here I go.
I figured that I should do a matching spoon as well.
Sharon runs an Outdoor Adventure Weekend for women at Camp Imadine every year
and has asked me if I would run a spoon carving workshop along with my grandson Isaac.
It's at the end of May. I jumped at the opportunity to do that with Isaac.
It will be fun . I'm going to carve up a few more samples over the next few weeks.
Carrie invited Ellies grade one class to the farm for a wiener roast.
I made sure the fire was going and then headed back to the house to hide.
Twenty little kids around six years old is way too much for me.
Those boys are just looking for a place to have an accident.
The trampoline was a big hit and Ellie was the centre of attention.
She seemed to like that.
Party's over.
Carrie did a few loads back to the house with her little wagon.
John and his sister Julie own Northern Log and Timber.
They built this house 4 years ago ant the people moved it to another location.
They had to separate the carport from the house to do the move and
are experiencing some problems with how the contractor put it back together.
We left Kelowna at 7:00 A.M. to get to Tappin by 8:30.
YIKES.
The moving contractor must have been cross eyed or drunk.
Hard to believe he could leave it like this.
It's also hard to believe this place is only four years old.
Apparently the couple who had it built wanted it to look like it was
more like one hundred years old.
Mission accomplished.
It would have been beautiful
if only they had treated the wood before letting it weather.
The inside was quite nice.
Maybe a little on the dark side for my liking.
Back home we built a mini roof or eyebrow as I've been calling it
along the south side of our build.
The tin guys are coming on Saturday to put the metal on for me.
We needed a cut put into the log above the roof for the flashing to slide into.
Carrie is far more nimble than me so I got her all set up with some bracing
for her feet and she climbed up onto the roof pushing the saw along the guide I had set up.
I stood on the scaffolding handing her the saw every few feet as she crept along .
We're a good team. It worked out perfect.
I love being invited out for dinner.
Especially if the cook is a gourmet cook.
We went to Josie and Andrews on Monday for a feast.
Here Ruth and Jerry are eagerly waiting for everyone to sit down .
This picture of Daisy popped up on my computer last night.
I loved this little mutt.
