This Is Going To Be A Great Spot

Ruth and I are busy inside setting up our new home while Carrie and her kids play in the pool. 

What's nice is we just look out the windows and watch. Hard to beat that. When they get tired of the pool they just have to walk next door and they are home in their lake house.

  We love living so close to them.

Carrie had a dentist appointment on Monday morning. All the cars were in use so she took her friends car that she looks after when he is at sea. His dad was her captain on the east coast when she was stationed out there with the coast guard. Carrie became quite close to him and his family and so when the son joined the merchant marines he needed to fly out of Kelowna to meet his ship but he had to find a place to store his car a month at a time. Carrie was the natural care taker.   The car is a crap car. But he loves it. 

So anyways , Carrie calls me this afternoon and asks me if I know where the car is. It's not in her yard and he's coming home tomorrow from being at sea and will want to be going home to Nelson. She's sounding frantic. The car has been stolen. She calls him and leaves a message. 

All this happened around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon. 

Close to 4:00 she calls me and says she found the car. Apparently she went to the dentist Monday morning and drove herself. Got some good drugs for her pain and was so jacked up when she left she found another way home and forgot she had driven herself until later today. Hahaha. I love my kids. It's true that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. 

Sounds exact like something I would do. Hard to believe she even needs a dentist. She has such a beautiful smile. 

It's been a quiet week

Not much happened this last week 

although I did have my 64th birthday and 41st anniversary on Friday the 13th.

It started out as a normal day. I made french toast for Ellie to start her day on.

Closer to noon we headed out for lunch.

I would have been happy here with a dog but we decided to go a little more upscale.

Ruth and I went to Creekside for lunch in the Mission. 

Nothing quite like sharing a bottle of wine and nice lunch with my partner of 41 years.

We even got to bring in Daisy for the celebratory lunch.

After lunch we drove past for a quick visit with Gus.

He was busy treating his 6000 Medusala Peppers with a spray .

This has turned into quite a project for him.

If anyone wants an unusual plant , He's your guy.

Next we headed home and watched Ruth make an Angle food cake for my birthday desert.

Ellie knows when to appear.

They were kind enough not to put all the candles necessary to represent my age on the cake.

That Jack is forever photo bombing my pictures.

My birthday was on Friday the 13th.

Saturday the 14th we took our mobile home over to Dana and Anita's for another dinner.

We set up the coach beside their golf coarse.

It was a lovely  camping spot.

Inside the meal was being prepared.

It was a feast.

Lots of laughs. A really nice time.

Daisy was quite enthralled by the cat.

I think they could be quite good friends.

The cat is 11 years old. Same as Daisy.

She's been a superb mouser all of her life.

Dana naturally called her Hannibal Dexter.

Daisy has also become very good friends with their 2 year old chocolate lab.

He's a great dog.

He's also very much a lab.

You can't keep him out of the pool.

After dinner we spent the rest of the evening relaxing by the fire.

Such a nice relaxing time.

Back in the coach for night Daisy got her little toy she loves (Thanks to Wayne and Sue)

and cuddled up with it exhausted. 

On the way back to Lake Country Sunday afternoon we stopped at Ruth's garden 

and she did a few upgrades .

Carrie had made Ruth about 8 concrete stepping stones for Mothers day 

and it was time to place them in their appropriate spots in the garden. 

This is definitely her Happy Place.

Mother's Day Weekend , 2016

 So we all climb into our coach and head off to penticton for the Saturday morning Market.

Not sure how much coffee these kids drank with their breakfast 

but I'm pretty sure it was more than me.

They both keep Ruth smiling.Which is good.

So cute watching Carrie herd her little one's down into the market.

I thought this would be a great bike for Jack.

Ruth hires a palm reader to do Jack and herself.

I loved hearing her negotiate the price after he was done.

I was glad she got it down from the advertised price but I think it was still too much.

 The main reason we went to Penticton was to check out Gus and his pepper display.

We were impressed. He's done a great job on bringing his peppers to market.

We are definitely going to buy some from him. 

They are so unusual. No one else has them in town.

Next stop was to visit my room mate from 44 years ago.

He lives on a farm another hour south of Penticton.

Randy is a survivalist. 

This house he built is not a house but actually a boat. 

It's not attached to the ground and the foundation is made of the same material 

they make floating cement docks out of.

He's ready for any type of disaster that may happen.

The inside is unbelievable.

He is truly an artist.

The outdoor fire pit is very interesting.

The kids were quite taken by his chickens.

So was Ruth.

Randy has about 15 chickens he keeps just as pets.

He's set up a chair in this particular pen where he can hand feed them.

 Well , that was what we did on Saturday.

Sunday morning we headed out to Fintry to a fair that we thought the kids would like.

First stop was at a play ground to burn off some energy.

Carrie got quite a work out with the kids.

Next stop was at Fintry provincial park.

Not a lot to de here but the kids did get to go into a bouncy castle for about 30 minutes.

They thought it was great.

This is the original homestead in the park.

The fair was set up in the yard behind the house.

Beautiful piece of property.

Next on the list of TO DO"S was to climb 500 stairs to check out the Fall's.

This is at the bottom.

This is a Happy Mother's Day Smile.

I don't like heights.

It was hard to keep standing so close to the railing.

It was beautiful from the top but those sure were a lot of stairs to climb.

The cars looked like dinkie toys from up there.

The ride back. 

Everyone loves travelling in the coach.

Treats whenever we feel like it.

Even Daisy got into the action.

Chocolate ice cream is her favourite Sue.

It was a really nice day.

Lots of driving but the kids were kept entertained and happy thanks to Ruth 

who rode in the back with them.

Carrie's Place

So we got home Sunday evening just to find out that the kitchen sink was plugged up.

Monday Ruth bought a snake in town so that Carrie and I could pretend to be plumbers.

I got quite dirty trying to take the trap system apart.

Carrie and I are quite a team.

I fed the snake down the drain while she twisted the snake turning the handle.

It started to drain and then plugged up again.

Tomorrow we will get a real plumber in to fix it.

The plumber finally showed up late tuesday afternoon. 

There was no kitchen sink since last Saturday. Not fun.

Anyways , 

What was fun was watching Carrie transform her yard into a beautiful garden.

She now has 3 raised beds with raspberries that she transplanted from 

a neighbours garden that was getting destroyed.

Brad trimmed up the tree for more light .

She has planted a nice variety of vegetables.

That Jack photo bombs a lot of pictures.

Wednesday afternoon Carrie build a wire wall for her Sweet Peas.

Daisy supervised.

It turned out really nice.

She has everything on auto irrigation.

Ruth had been gone for a couple of hours so I jumped on my bike 

and peddled over to the community garden where she has a nice plot for herself.

 It's her happy place.

I sat on my bike watching for about 8 minutes before she even noticed me.

She sure gets focused when in her garden.

She should get quite a crop from all she has planted.
