Isaac Is A Hoot

My oldest grand son makes me laugh. He loves to make others laugh as well. Yesterday he went to his neighbours to play and the mom gave him a sucker with the instructions we all give to kids.
DON'T CHEW ,  JUST LICK.
So a few minutes later he comes home with his tooth stuck in this candy. He looks so happy.

Laid Back Thursday

Ruth went out this morning after walking with Janice and bought a new pair of sandals. She liked them so much that she wanted me to buy a pair. Ruth forced them onto my foot to see how I liked them. I kept saying that they wouldn't fit but she insisted. I think they look nice on me.

She also went out with some of the gals on the dock to get her nails done . That happened just after her hair cut . It was nice that she got some pampering today. When she was leaving this morning I mentioned to one of the gals on the dock that I didn't know who was going to make my meals for me today if Ruth was gone. She gave me a dirty look. Hahaha. She doesn't know me. It was funny.

I got the hose , brush and shammy out this afternoon and washed the boat. They burn the sugar cane fields not too far from here and the ash settles on the boat .
Took me a few hours but In Tune is shiny again.

There was a cool looking curly tail on the docks when I was taking Daisy for a walk.

So Magnus called me from his boat around supper time to say he had just caught a juvenile pompano fish. I had never seen one before so I asked him to keep it till I could get over there for a look see.It is a beautiful silver colour. He said it was too small to keep.

I hear that they sell for $25 a pound at the fish market. He has been catching fish non stop for the last 2 days off of the back of his boat. Now if we can only get him to catch the bigger one's we may get a meal or two from all his work.

SHARK!!!!! SHARK!!!!!!!

So Ruth went for a walk this morning with two of her girl friends and 3/4 ways thru the walk they decided to relax on some loungers that were along the ocean. They were all staring out at the ocean watching the waves come in when one large breaker had a good sized shark swimming in it as it broke on the shore. I wish I had seen this. They all said it was really cool to see.

My excitement of the day was getting a package from Defender.

I've been waiting for these peepers for a while.

Now no one is going to be safe from these prying eyes. Mwahahah.

Another Fun Day

We left our marina at 11:54 A.M. today to check out the replica ships that Columbus sailed the ocean blue. They were tied up at Sunset Marina. Magnus and Charlotte came with us and we laughed from the moment we left till we got back home. I wanted him to chase the truck when we left our marina but was only allowed to do it once. Girls can sure take the fun out of a good guy joke sometimes.

This was a cool thing to see.

The boat was black on the inside and outside. Magnus told us that it was covered in tar. That is how they use to preserve the wood in years past from the salt.

The Nina was quite a bit smaller. We talked to the crew and found them quite interesting . The gal on the Nina said that they were always wet . She has been in 8-10 foot waves and it wasn't fun. She says that the phrase "shiver me timbers" has a real meaning. At sea she has seen the mast vibrate so hard that you couldn't hold your hand on it and the floor boards would be jumping off their frames.

I was thinking I would like to get this kid to come and help me finish build the kayak I have been working on for the last two years.

He did a nice job.

Magnus was in the Swedish navy for a few years and had lots of great stories about this type of boat. The best one was where the crew he worked with slept on hammocks in one big room . They tied one boy into his hammock while he slept and turned him over. Unfortunately they forgot about him and he woke everyone up in the night with a blood curdling scream. I can only imagine what he thought when he opened up his eyes. I laughed for a long time thinking about this. What a great prank. Here he is entertaining the girls with one of his sailor stories.

We went to the Happy Snapper for lunch. I love this place. Cheap and good.

I don't know why everyone has to take turns looking at the camera. Glad I don't have to pay for film.

I'm Liking These Lazy Days

So I climbed back on the roof this afternoon and changed the second porthole lens. I love make work projects. I forgot my hammer on the roof the day before and it rained. Now I have to polish out the rust.

So now the two portholes and the back window have been replaced.
I get mad every time I think about the guy who broke them while doing a poor job of polishing the boat last December.

Late Saturday night  we had a visit from our friends who are full time live-aboards on Swede Dreams (a Swedish couple) from New York.

All they wanted to do was announce how the Swedes were going to trounce the Canadians in Men's Hockey Sunday morning. It was one game we didn't want to miss so we were up before sunrise to watch. This is a sight I don't see very often.

Here Magnus is giving excuses to why the Swedes lost the game and that it was a fluke. We didn't believe his reasoning and bottom line is the Canadians have the better team. Hahaha.
 It was a wonderful evening.

Magnus and Charlotte had us over for a lovely dinner and good conversation. We laughed lots.

Another Great Saturday

So we headed down the dock this morning around 9:30. Big day planned. Farmers market it Fort Pierce. The Italian Festival and on to the Greek Festival. We were lucky enough to see the mother and baby Blue Heron together in the bay that is beside our dock.

We got up to the market in Fort Pierce and there were horses all over the place . Apparently there was a 6 day ride from the west coast of Florida to the east coast and it finished here in the market area. There were about 100 horses and riders. Very cool to see.

This gal on the ground had taken her Yorkie out of the buggy and was having a talk and lie down on the ground beside the horses.

That is the last place in the world I would want to be relaxing. Crazy.

The market was jam packed today.

How often do you see horses and yachts in the same place. This was a marina. Funny.

There was a pork BBQ contest going on next door.

I stood in line here for some ribs but left after 15 minutes . The service was terrible. I thought it was funny seeing the cops chowing down on the pork in front of this display. I didn't have the nerve to get any closer for the picture I really wanted.  I pretended not to see them there. Ha

We went thru a display area promoting the importance of taking care of our oceans. This is a Zebra Moray eel. it was about 2 feet long. The gal who was watching over the exhibit said it ate about 6 expensive fish in the aquarium before there realized what it was. Haha

Next stop was the Greek Festival. Wonderful young people dancing their hearts out.

I had grape leaves wrapped around rice and ground beef and a lemon sauce. Better than those ribs. NOT.

I did like these . They were fried dough that they soaked in hot honey.  Yumm.

We got back to the marina just in time to enjoy the sunset on the fly bridge of Janice's boat.

This is the reflection from the sunset. Beautiful.

The sunset was gorgeous.

I Love Friday's

So we headed out this morning in hot and sunny weather. What a great start to the day.

When we got back to the boat I took the plastic off the port hole over the drivers seat and placed the new lens in it's frame.

It took me about 2 hours to replace this window. One down , one to go. I'll finish it tomorrow .

There is a 56 foot carver for sale on this dock that I wanted to look at. It's nice but not quite what I would buy of we ever moved into a larger boat. I prefer the Carver 506.

I did like the helm but the boat itself didn't have any more room than our 456. You can't beat an aft cabin boat for providing maximum living space.

The salon was laid out nicely. We were both impressed with the hardwood floors.

At 5:00 we headed over to Janice's boat for happy hour.

It is a very comfortable Hatteras they have owned for over 10 years. I love the salon.

We sat on the back deck until the rain and lightning started.

We headed back to our boat at 8:00. Ruth will go for a nice walk in the morning with Janice. Then she'll do another one with me.She likes to walk about 5 miles every morning.

Another Great Thursday

So the boat is polished and we have no reason to hang around the marina today. We headed out to this park that we have never gone to before and really enjoyed what we saw.

There is this cool boardwalk extending into the ICW.

We found a bench at the end of it and just sat and talked for a while.

The artwork in this park was wonderful. This was a brass sculpture of a mother and baby dolphin.

There was a wonderful children's museum on the property.

For lunch we headed out to our favourite beach restaurant.

After lunch on the beach we moved over to a couple of loungers to enjoy the sites and the rest of our wine. We ended up sitting here for about 2 hours watching the boats and wild life in the ICW.

I love these birds. They are so beautiful as they meander past our spot.
