I NEED TO BLOG MORE

So i'm driving down the road in front of our property.
This is a true sign of autumn.
The fruit crops are here and the bears are down from the mountains living in our valley.

A friend gave me a bucket of peaches.
I decided to make a peach pie for the first time in my life.

And here is my first attempt to French Pastry.
I'm building this crust using  BUTTER . Yumm.

It was a perfect pie.
I shouldn't be doing this again unless I want to weigh 400 pounds.

Even the leftover pastry was a wonderful test.

Here I am cleaning Carrie's bird's cage using a toothbrush.
I sent Carrie as text picture saying it was her toothbrush.
She doesn't get excited very easily.
She just laughed when she saw it.
Damn

I really like babysitting this bird. She's so sweet.
Once I cleaned the cage and gave her fresh food she dove in to the trough right away.
Kinda like me. Haha

I wandered into the living room yesterday and the bird wasn't in her cage.
I spent 5 minutes looking for her and finally found the damn bird sitting on our beautiful first nations sculpture with the eagle.
Sharon says she has found her tribe. Haha

I live with a great chef.
Ruth puts some great meals on my plate. This was one of them.
Yumm. Home made noodles.
Veggies from her Garden.

Desert with raspberries from her garden.

Dinner with a friend from Vancouver. Nice night.
I love when these girls connect.
I get to go inside and watch TV.
My night off. Haha

Our Sue came for an overnight . She passed the bird test.
We like her as well. It was a nice night.

I dropped in for a visit with Frank.
He bought our Lakeshore house and has torn out our pool and installed a new one.
He is doing a wonderful reno. WOW. I was so impressed.

I baby sat a really cute pup this week.
I loved having this little sweetheart here overnight but it taught me a lot.
I'm not ready for another dog as my own and I don't want another dog.
No dog will ever replace DAISY and our life style is not set up
to include a dog where we could take care of one properly.

I love my serious walker.
She's ready for any type of weather.

THESE CARTOONS MADE ME LAUGH.

SPOKEN BY A TRUE SCOT.

I'M ON MY WAY BACK HOME

I stopped in Calgary for a couple of days to hang out with Brian and Roxie.
Brian was having some trouble with a piano he bought and asked me
to take a look at it.
It was a strange problem that one seldom sees but I managed to get it sorted out.'
In the 80's Young Chang used a metal in their action brackets that would grow with age.
By the time the pianos were 20 years old they wouldn't even play.
Not a lot of technicians know about this and I found out about it the hard way.
I had a piano 20 years ago that had this problem.
I think Brian was happy I came by.

Their yard makes a pretty nice camp ground.

Lot's of hidden gardens to relax in.
Not that I ever have.

Their place is quite a few acres and lots to look at.

Cute little hidden sculptures everywhere.

This one is life-size.

Actually , They are all life-size.

This one filled the bed of a pickup when they brought it home.

I love the ride thru the rockies when leaving Calgary.

It was a beautiful ride.Warm and clear. Stereo cranked listening to
Emerson , Lake and Palmers  CD "Brain Salad Surgery" from the late 90's.
Life is good.

Every year coming back from fishing I would stop at the Kicking Horse
Rest Stop with Daisy.

We'd wander around for about 30 minutes before getting back on the road.
She always seemed to like it here.

I was feeling nostalgic and was thinking about her a lot driving thru Golden
so I stopped for a bit of a break.

I sure miss that little mutt.
She always made the trip more enjoyable for me.

So when I got home I made up a couple of Walleye dinners for Ruth and myself.
Ruth garden is doing great and she has grown everything on the plate except the fish I caught..
Such a great meal. I've been allergic to fish for the last 10 years or so
but I've had Walleye 3 times since getting home with no reaction.
I hope I've outgrown my allergy.

I think the bird was even happy to see me.

She's become my buddy.

Ruth picked 2 buckets of raspberries on Tuesday before I got out of bed
and I made a pie for dinner.
I took a slice of it over to our neighbours when I drove the garbage to the end of the driveway.
It tasted better than it looked.

We have 1000 feet of frontage along the rail trail and we've never gone south on it.
It is 27 Kilometres into Kelowna from our place so we thought we'd give it a go.
We have done the northern ride towards Vernon quite a few times.

There is still some work to be done going south.

We live in such a beautiful place.
The birds were singing and we could hear the water bubbling under the bridge.
Very nice.

We were planning on riding to the Tim Horton's by the airport for a coffee.
We knew there were a couple of barricades between us and Kelowna
but we were also told there were ways around them.
This one was easy.
There was a hole in the fence and we just passed the bikes over top .

This one wasn't so easy.
This is where we turned around.
